Critical Social Research is a methodology book that looks, via illustrative studies, at critical social research methodology. The book consists of five sections.

The first part, Basics, outlines the approach to critical social research.

The second part, Class, includes seven studies of critical social research that adopt a class-based analysis of oppression.

The third part, Gender, has studies focusing on gender-based oppression.

The fourth part, Race, includes studies that focus on race or ethnicity as abasis of oppression.

The fifth part is the Conclusion.
